Patent Nonsense

When you see the phrase “patented” on a dietary complement or gadget, do you assume which means the product does what it claims to do? You shouldn’t. It actually doesn’t imply that the U.S. Patent and Trademark Workplace has endorsed it. Nonetheless, scores of merchandise promote their patent numbers and make such claims as “patented to scale back blood ldl cholesterol,” “patented to induce weight reduction from the thighs,” or “patented to preserve mobile vitality,” as if the patent assured the consequence.

Patents are issued to guard new processes, machines, manufactured merchandise and formulations of substances. No pure product may be patented—solely processes for extracting a selected substance from nature, or new combos of such substances. However there is no such thing as a means the Patent Workplace can decide usefulness, effectiveness or security. Loads of ineffective, unworkable objects have gained patents— for example, an electrified cup that shocks you to deal with hiccups (patent quantity 7062320).
